
4) shifting my outlook
But, perhaps paradoxically, in the course of my Tibetan studies (2007-2013), I begun to divert my PhD research away from what seemed to me the prototypical tibetologists’s view, into an eclectic and somehow kaleidoscopic blend of other disciplines which I found far more attractive (narratology, cultural history, comparative studies…) and, more importantly, consciously rejecting the strong role of the Tibetan religious tradition, with more interest in the civil society.
